LA Area 48/96

I work for the Casa Grande Fire Department in Arizona. We are scheduled to begin a 1 year 48/96 trial in January of 2010. According to the Battalion Chief in charge of the trial we are going to use the LA schedule. If I'm not mistaken neither LA City or LA County are using this schedule, so I assuming he means the LA County area. If anyone from an LA area fire department who is on this schedule reads my post would it be possible to obtain from you a copy of your schedule so I can present it to my union. This would be much appreciated.

Thank You,
Chad:cheers:

When L.A. County Fire was thinking about it, It was going to be 48 hours on and 96 hours off then 48 on and 96 off so on and so on.

Your right Paddie, County WAS thinking about it but it never materialized. It's just too bad because it would be perfect for guys that commute like myself. I hate in-between days. Kills me on the gas.

I have yet to hear a bad thing about the schedule, my department has been on it for 2 years and so have the cities around us. I believe the bay area Depts are using it as well. Sac City went to it last year and will never go back! The concerns of being up all night and then working a second day came into play but there has not been a complaint that I know of.

Your BC is mis-imformed. There is "LA 48-96". Some departments might be on it, but as far as I have heard, nothing official.

As for LA- They are on the Detroit/Berkeley/Kelly 3/4 schedule.

As for LA County, they are on their onwn schedule of xoxooxoxoooo

As for the 48-96.com website, it is dead and not updated.

Hey guys........ it's me again. Thanks for all the replies but what I really wanted was a sample 48/96 schedule from one of the "LA area" departments to show my union.

Thanks,
Chad

There's only one 48/96 guy, you don't have to call it LA's. You either start on an A, B, or C shift day.
It's more commonly referred to as the 2/4 around here.

Good luck, your guys will love it after 2 weeks, I can almost guarantee it.

I would love to go to the 48/96 but we have guys in our deparment who "don't want to be there for more than one day..." unless, of course, it's OT.

I worked for an ambulance company in the late 90's that had a schedule like this: I worked sat, sun and got five days off. Then the next week I worked sat, sun and monday and got four days off. It worked great for me as I was in medic school but when I wasn't in school it was like I had a vacation every week.

Hopefully someday I can work that schedule...
