That's a good point. I've thought about why our local department doesn't switch to a 48/96. Then I thought about the call volume of a few of our stations and they generally get hammered on a regular...

I am looking to be in this boat as well. My commute is a little shorter, but the drive home will give me time to decompress and prepare to be a husband and dad at home. We'll see how it plays out.

She must not be a math major. Let's say the average banker works 8-5 with a 1-hr lunch. So, an 8-hr day. x 5 =40 hrs per week, x 4.25= 170 hrs per month.

On the 48/96, we work 240 hrs a month....

Dude, it's flat out amazing. My brother in law works for Kern. He says they'll take mid-week 5-day trips to Disneyland and never even have to claim vacation or even do a duty trade.
