Default Michael McCoy, CDF, OCFD/OCFA, ret

Oct 16, 1946 – Sep 25, 2017

OCFA is saddened to announce the passing of former OCFA Battalion Chief Mike McCoy. Chief McCoy retired from OCFA in 2011 after 40 years of service.

Quote:
Mike McCoy Retired BC passed away Monday of a brain aneurysm following knee surgery at his home while recovering. Mike was a great guy and a great friend since 1973. He was the guy that lit up the room that everyone liked. Dependability, loyalty, thoughtfulness, honesty, totally reliable are just but a few of his qualities. I never found a fault with him and was always glad to have a cup of coffee with him.

One of the nicest, polite, professional, calmest and highly skilled fire officers you will ever met. This guy has been a strike team leader to the 1992 LA Riot, Riverside, San Berndoo and other places and knows exactly how to run incidents to where other departments have sent officers to ride along with him for training. He actually pulled a victim out of a burning home once. He's been in the Army, one of the first Paramedics in the state, Engineer, Captain and then BC. If you read the other posted comments about him, you will see others say the same thing. If you heard on the radio that he was enroute, you knew the incident was going to be ok. Again, by far one of the best BCs and Incident Field Commanders in the history of So Cal. He was an OCFD/OCFA legend for sure.
