I dont think its been mentioned yet, but the best actual bags in my opinion are the LA Rescue brand. I have about 10 of them right now. The upside is the bags come with a Lifetime Warranty, which I have used a few times for little repairs. You just send the bag to Arizona and it comes back repaired.

The down side is company was bought by EMP back east awhile ago and it seems like the quality is still there, but when you have non firefighters trying to sell bags made mainly for firefighters. I like the older style and not minor design changes they did like removing the original LA rescue website and stitching the name directly on the bags. I like the older style better.

Anyways, you have some bags to look at and choose from-

Day Bag- I own 3 of these. Two red and 1 blue. I bought my first one in 1990 and its still working for me. Thats a 26 year investment that been beat up good. This is really like a 24 hour bag, but since space on an engine is scarce, use this as a 72 hour bag if needed.

Long Crew Bag- An all purpose bag with side pockets for the toiletry bag. I have two of these, one for work and the other for personal.

Red Mission Bag- Here is your red bag. I dont own any.

Air Attack Bag- Dont own one, but this would make a great red bag.

Duffle bags- I have 2 of these and use them for dirty laundry. Work great.

The reason I own so many LA Rescue bags is that I have grabbed a few of them cheap off of ebay. You might find some there too. There are other bags on the EMP website to view as well and come in colors of black and blue.

One time in basic training right before showers, I hear a scream and look over my shoulder and this kid is running bare ass naked through the barracks to the shower.

Turns out he put gold bond and icy hot on his nuts. No idea why. Funny at the time though.

A FF/PM from SDFD and USAR member, now retired, gave me a great pro tip -- pack your stuff in giant ziploc bags. That way, your clothes are protected from dirt, water and the smell of smoke. Since we end up cramming our bags in whatever compartment has room, it'll also help your stuff not reek of chainsaw fuel.

Also, I was the hero of my last strike team. I brought a 4-port phone charger with an extra long cable that can reach all the way to the backseat. I had people from other engines coming to plug into our adapter because we had the extra ports.
