Default The Leatherheads Firefighters Motorcycle Club

The Leatherheads Firefighter MC is a non-profit motorcycle club consisting of career firefighters. We are not affiliated with any other clubs and we do not claim any territory but respect all other clubs as they engage in their traditions and expect the same in return.

The only requirement for becoming a member is you must be a professional firefighter, active or retired. The brand of your motorcycle is not important but it must be a "cruiser" type.

Currently, we have three chapters. The Mother Chapter, located in Central Florida, Chapter 2, located in Southern California and Chapter 3 located in the Livermore/Pleasanton area of Northern California.

For information on membership into the Leatherheads Firefighters M.C. or information on starting a Chapter in your region, please contact us at leatherheads2@gmail.com or visit our website at: www.leatherheadsmc.com You can aslo find us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/leatherhead...47220918636798

The above Leatherhead logo is Trademarked and can not be used without expressed written permission of the Mother Chapter in Orlando, FL.

You raise a question worth an answer. The basis for the exclusion comes from our experience in another “firefighter” motorcycle club that many of our members once belonged to, both here in California and in Florida. The club we belonged to was a national club. The “un-named” club was a mix of professionals and volunteers. As that club grew, more and more chapters were “volunteer” only chapters; meaning, there were no paid professional firefighters as members. This was predominantly due to chapters being started in very rural areas.

There began to be a split in philosophies between the “volunteer only” chapters and the “blended” or professional chapters. The most basic underlying split was in the area of “Firefighter Brotherhood.” Simply put, the volunteer chapters did not put the same value on our Brotherhood that the professionals did. It became a constant source of infighting and unnecessary drama. We did not want to place ourselves back in that position with a new club.

Make no mistake about it, we recognize that many of our members started out as volunteers and we respect the need for them is certain areas of the country. But, we believe the bond between professional firefighters is the strongest brotherhood of professionals, comparable only to the bond of US Marines. Living with each other, 24, 48 or 96 hours at a time, counting on each other for everything and, a willingness to give your life to ensure your brother gets to go home at the end of the tour is a value that can’t be shared or completely understood by the part-time volunteer.

It was decided at inception of the Leatherheads Firefighters Motorcycle Club that this Brotherhood would be the cornerstone of our club. It is a Brotherhood that few completely understand outside of our profession. But, as the “cornerstone” it is an unequaled value that each of our members embrace.

We realize that any answer given here will not set well with everyone. Our motto is: "Braithre Thar Gach Ni" Brotherhood Above All

I see that another Firefighter Motorcycle Club has posted and is actively recruiting. I just want to make it clear that our posting is only for information, in case firefighters are looking for a motorcycle club to join. We are a large chapter and really don't have a need to recruit but we always welcome any firefighters who wants to join and ride. We are strictly interested in riding and promoting our firefighter brotherhood. We are not a "wanna-be" club, meaning we don't act like a 1% club. We are a hard riiding "firefighter" motorcycle club.

I want to make it clear, this is not directed at any other club posting here. We know "of" the other club, but know nothing about them. We do not pass judgement on them and hopefully they will not pass judgement on us. There is more than enough room in California for multiple clubs to exist and grow, providing they all know and respect the basic protocols of being a motorcycle clubs.

Thanks for taking time to read this.
